Behind the Stadium Tour: Minnesota Twins' Baseball Stadium

This optional, pre-conference tour will take you behind the scenes of the home of Major League Baseball's  Minnesota Twins with a sports architecture expert. Start with a ride through downtown Minneapolis to see and learn about sports facilities in the central business district.

During your visit to Target Field, you will:

  • Learn how architects cleverly squeezed a 12.5 acre ballpark onto an 8-acre site
  • See back-of-house spaces hidden from fans in the stands
  • Check out the welcoming plaza and public art
  • Learn about the outdoor ballpark's construction

Your tour also will take you past:

    Cost is $30 per person. Registration is limited to 25 people and is available first-come, first-served.
    GUIDE

    Kristin Anderson is a professor of art history who researches and studies sports architecture. She is co-authoring a book on the history of sports facilities in the Twin Cities. She researches Scandinavian immigrant folk art and the altar paintings tradition of Norwegian-Americans. She is chair of the Minnesota State Review Board for National Register of Historic Places designations.
