A Minute to Think Course Will Improve Work Habits

Enrollment is now open for A Minute to Think, a 14-week digital course for pools to address everyday habits that get in the way of serving members — meeting overload, constant email checking and unclear priorities.

The course is structured around practical topics, including:

  • Identifying and controlling common time drains at work
  • Focusing on high-impact work and reducing or eliminating low-value tasks
  • Knowing how and when to say “no” to simplify and reduce unnecessary demands
  • Rethinking meetings — when to attend, decline or adjust participation
  • Determining what is truly urgent among work priorities
  • Improving email habits

Each week includes a short lesson (under 10 minutes) and discussion prompts to help teams apply the ideas to their daily work. The lessons are easy to fit in and help operationalize habits of effective work.

How to Enroll

To get started, top pool executives can contact Claire Torza. Staff interested in participating should connect with their pool leadership. Individuals cannot enroll on their own.

Every AGRiP member pool receives three complimentary seats, with additional seats available.

If your pool hasn’t taken our workplace efficiency survey, it’s a valuable tool to consider. It shows where your team’s time is going and where to make adjustments — making A Minute to Think even more impactful.

So far, survey results reveal:

  • Email consumes nearly half of the average workday for pool staff.
  • Pool staff report that 20 percent of the time they spend in meetings is wasted.
  • More than 60 percent of pool staff say they don’t have enough time in their workday to focus on meaningful outcomes. They report they’d like to spend more time improving documentation of litigated claims, closing claims, drafting how-to guidance for members, proactively managing their direct reports and strengthening board communications.
