Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority (MMRMA) is seeking a property claims manager. This position has significant authority to oversee, monitor and adjust assigned property and other first-party claims in accordance with established claims handling policies, practices, and procedures. The property claims manager is recognized as a property claims subject matter expert and plays a key role in developing and leading implementation of strategies regarding such claims to achieve performance objectives. Oversees and trains assigned adjusters; monitoring colleagues’ workloads, individual claims diaries and activities. Conducts investigations, gathers facts, and makes findings. Investigations include interviews, obtaining statements, photographs, other supporting documentation, and may include site visits and/or inspections. Analyzes coverage and provides notice to members and claimants concerning coverage determinations. Obtains proof of loss as supporting documentation of damages. Establishes, monitors, reviews, and modifies reserves in accordance with reserving policies and procedures and delegated authority. Engages outside experts, adjusters and appraisers where necessary. Facilitates payments and negotiates settlements within the delegated payment and settlement authority. Pursues opportunities for salvage and subrogation. Prepares presentations for various meetings and other events, or periodic articles for publication. Participates in meetings with members or professional organizations.
