Alaska Public Entity Insurance (APEI) and the Alaska Municipal League Joint Insurance Association (AMLJIA) are seeking an experienced, strategic claims professional to oversee property, casualty, and workers’ compensation claims for their two organizations. This is a new position, to be shared and jointly funded by AMLJIA and APEI.
The Claims Director will split their time between the two risk pools, supervising claim staff in each organization and ensuring claims are handled in accordance with each pool’s standards. The Director also will handle claims that are complex or that involve reinsurance, and manage ongoing litigation.
Competitors throughout their history, the two organizations are exploring consolidation into one pool, to be known as the Alaska Public Risk Alliance (APRA). If consolidation is approved by the two groups’ members, they will join forces on July 1, 2025, bringing together the staff from both organizations, including the Claims Director, into the new pool.
