The Board of Directors of the Vector Control Joint Powers Agency (VCJPA) requests proposals from qualified counsel to provide general counsel and/or coverage counsel legal services to its Board of Directors and staff.
The VCJPA is a governmental joint powers authority formed in 1979 pursuant to the California Government Code. VCJPA was established for the purpose of funding and developing programs to provide various coverages for its 34-member mosquito abatement and vector control districts in California through a combination of self-insurance and group purchased insurance.
VCJPA is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board consists of six voting directors, with one director elected by each of the four Agency regions and two Board of Trustee members elected by the regions, and five alternate directors. VCJPA’s Executive Committee provides policy direction to the Board and consists of the President, 1st Vice President, and 2nd Vice President. The Board meets four times per year in person in February, April, June, and November. All meetings are held in Sacramento except for the February meeting. The February meeting is held in conjunction with the VCJPA Annual Workshop which is typically held in Northern California. The Executive Committee meets virtually in January, May, and October.
To manage the day-to-day operations of VCJPA, Sedgwick has been engaged to provide program administration, accounting, risk management, liability claims handling, litigation management, workers’ compensation oversight, and board secretarial services. Sedgwick also provides management oversight of other contracted service providers.
VCJPA is accredited with excellence by the California Association of Joint Powers Authorities.
