Risk Management Director
The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to oversee the operations of our three self-funded insurance pools (group benefits, workers compensation, and property/liability) in support of the Association's broader mission of service to our 100 County members. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to direct risk management staff and numerous consulting and vendor contractors within a member services association. This will require a strong penchant for customer service, knowledge of county government, and the ability to develop and retain member entities as well as to contribute to the overall mission of the NCACC. Candidate will administer combined pool budgets of $130 million and an operational budget in excess of $1.9 million. Successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Director of the NCACC and will be expected to support the Risk Management Pools Board of Trustees in their stewardship responsibilities.
Requirements include a minimum of a Bachelors of Arts/Sciences, with additional training and/or experience that demonstrates vision and expertise in the area of risk management. Self-insurance pool experience highly preferred, as well as, CPCU, CLU and/or ARM designations.
This vacancy is open until filled and the salary is negotiable depending on education and experience.

Risk Management Director
The Texas Association of Public Schools Property and Liability Fund (TAPS) is recruiting for a Risk Management Director. This is a new position for TAPS. The person will supervise the field risk control consultant staff including conducting their education and training; will be responsible for member risk management education through seminars and e-leaning methods; will design and manage a membership risk management certification program; will be responsible for TAPS risk management publications including a quarterly newsletter; and will monitor TAPS member claims trends to design appropriate measures to deal with them. The Risk Management Director will report to the Executive Director.
TAPS is the second largest property and liability pool for public school in Texas with $15 million in contributions. It was formed in 2001 and currently has 172 members all across the state. It is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas.
A successful candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in public entity risk management, with risk pool experience a bonus. A college degree in a related field or commensurate experience is required.

Claims Administrator - Contract Position
The Position:
NOTE: This is a contract position and is eligible for full benefits. The scope of work and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following deliverables:
Claims Response and Reporting: Evaluate, negotiate and resolve, third-party bodily injury and property damage claims under the authority of the Risk Manager; conduct field investigations of accidents, including obtaining written and recorded statements from witnesses and claimants and obtaining appropriate medical information;prepare detailed reports of findings and related matters; participate in the process for retaining legal counsel as needed for tort litigation; transfer unresolved cases to retained attorneys according to type of case, complexity, adverse counsel, venue and cost; conduct all aspects of tort litigation support to assigned counsel, including investigatory services, preparation of legal documents, discovery, and trial preparation; prepare evaluations of retained attorney performance after suits are completed; review legal expenses related to risk management; retain, assign, evaluate and pay independent claims adjusting services; assure tasks assigned to independent adjustors, such as obtaining witness statements and vehicle damage appraisals, are completed in a complete and timely manner; ensure implementation of the provisions of the inter-local agreement with the liability claims insurer, Washington State Transit Insurance Pool (WSTIP); interact continually with WSTIP personnel related to the general handling of tort claims including data collection, reporting, and payment of claims; assist in the development, implementation and refinement of Risk Management performance metrics related to the general tort liability program; prepare and maintain a variety of statistical and financial records and reports, including history of liability losses, and quarterly updates of general liability claim status for managers.
Loss Prevention: Collaborate with Agency partners to develop and administer employee training related to safety and loss prevention; collaborate with Agency partners to develop and administer community outreach programs that empower our riders and other stakeholders to safeguard Pierce Transit assets for the benefit of the broader community.
Hiring Range: $60,721 - $73,806

Salary Range: $60,721 - $85,440 annually,
paid on a bi-weekly basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, or a related field and four years of increasingly responsible professional level experience in a claims environment or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Special Requirements: A valid State of Washington driver's license. Due to the nature of our operation, response to incidents may be required outside of standard office hours.
Knowledge & Abilities:
Knowledge of: principles, practices, procedures and terminology related to general liability and risk management; legal discovery and court procedures; applicable laws, rules and regulations including worker compensation laws; claim investigation and property damage appraisal methodology and techniques; medical terminology; mathematics; motor vehicle operation and crash dynamics; and, basic accident reconstruction and photography.
Skill in: communicating effectively orally and in writing; conducting detailed investigations and analysis; preparing clear and concise witness statements, estimates and reports; negotiating with claimants and legal counsel; conducting research and special projects; maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with others; and, operating a microcomputer using word processing, spreadsheet and date base software.

Managing Director, Public Risk Services
Located in Orlando, Florida, Public Risk Services is the municipal insurance services department of the Florida League of Cities, Inc. (FLC). The managing director reports directly to the Executive Director of the Florida League of Cities, Inc. All staff employed by Public Risk Services are FLC employees.
The managing director works directly with both the 15 member governing board of trustees of the Florida Municipal Insurance Trust and the 8 member governing board of trustees of the Florida Municipal Construction Trust. This position is responsible for the overall operation of a multi -line self insurance program for Florida municipalities with combined premiums of $125 million. This position performs a wide range of complex administrative activities related to the overall operation of both trusts and oversight of 100 employees, new product development, reinsurance placement, and rate setting.
Requirements for this position are graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Insurance, Business or Public Administration or related field with extensive experience in financial, administrative, personnel and insurance management. A minimum of 5 years in a management position required. Florida General Lines License 2-20, Life and health License 2-18 and Surplus Lines License 1-20 is required. Advanced degree or insurance related designations are desirable.
