John Ashton and Mike Tiffany, founders of Ashton Tiffany, have been selected by the AGRiP Board of Directors as recipients of the 2019 Award for Excellence in Leadership, in recognition of their efforts to cultivate new talent and develop future public entity pooling executives.

Ashton and Tiffany created a comprehensive, innovative leadership program called HiPo ("high potential") to help public entity pooling staff develop the skills necessary to advance in the field and take on future executive roles. Ashton and Tiffany regularly meet with and mentor these up-and-coming professionals, arrange for cross-training opportunities, and facilitate interaction with other senior level management.

The two have also shared data, program materials and mentoring advice with other pool administrators, to help them evaluate programs similar to HiPo.

An independent risk management consulting firm in operation since 1995, Ashton Tiffany administers Arizona School Risk Retention Trust, Inc. (the Trust), Arizona School Alliance for Workers' Compensation, Inc. (the Alliance) and Kairos Health Arizona, Inc. (Kairos), all public entity pools.

Ashton also serves on the AGRiP Health Pool Resources Group.

Individuals who make significant contributions to the public entity pooling industry and encourage the professional development of others are considered for the Leadership award. Ashton and Tiffany will receive the award during the 2019 Governance & Leadership Conference.
