Pools participate in AGRiP to find commonality and connection. Claims people swap stories, underwriters compare methods and risk managers share ideas for new initiatives. No matter your pool or role, there's someone within AGRiP working through the same issue or facing a similar challenge.
Those points of connection don’t happen on their own. Experiencing the full value of AGRiP — or any other association — requires an investment of time, ideas and participation. The more members contribute, the more valuable the association becomes for everyone.
Here are suggestions for how to contribute in ways that support the whole of pooling and boost the value of membership for your pool:
- Share your member newsletter. If you have a member newsletter, add to the distribution list so we can better understand the needs of the local public entities your pool serves.
- Send us board materials. We read meeting packets to stay current on trending operational and governance conversations. Add Executive Director Ann Gergen (agergen@agrip.org) to your regular distribution of board materials and updates.
- Share an interesting article. If you find it interesting, we want to know. Send us an article that makes you think, raises a question about pooling, gets you excited or gives you pause.
- Suggest content. Every conference session, webinar, Pooling Academy course, Intelligence article or other resource comes directly from ideas shared by pools. There’s no formal suggestion process — just talk to anyone on the AGRiP staff.
- Post to a discussion forum. Share your questions and ideas with other pools so everyone has perspective on the pooling environment. To access your discussion forums, log in to our website and select “See my groups” from the “I want to...” drop-down menu.
Interacting directly within AGRiP is important, but so are the other places you make professional connections. You’ll see AGRiP at client forums and training events hosted by service providers, reinsurance pools and similar groups. We participate in informal groups of communications professionals, underwriters, risk managers, school pools and technology users. We collaborate with other pooling associations, including CAJPA, CAIR and NLC-RISC, and professional associations such as PRIMA.
These connections help us stay close to the issues facing pools and bring what we learn back to the broader pooling community.
AGRiP is a pooling resource, but more importantly, we're pooling’s biggest advocate. Your questions, ideas and experiences lift the entire community, making pools more effective, collaborative and informed.
