The Florida School Boards Insurance Trust seeks a qualified Risk Manager to direct and coordinate a statewide insurance consortium. A Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field is required. An “ARM” designation or Master’s degree in these or comparable fields preferred or at least five (5) years’ experience in local government administration or risk management. Assistant Director

Summary of Position:
TMLIRP provides workers’ compensation, liability and property coverages to over 2,700 Texas local governments. TMLIRP has annual revenue of $178 million and total assets of $728 million. The Assistant Director will be part of the Executive team that is responsible for overall management and coordination of the Pool’s day-to-day operations, makes recommendations and implements Board policies, and develops long-term goals for the organization. The Pool’s day-to-day operations include Loss Prevention, Field Services, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Accounting, Personnel, Legal, and Information Technology.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports to: Executive Director
Directs: Department Heads who report to Assistant Director
Other: Works closely with all departments, members, officials, reinsurers, independent contractors and actuaries. Guides cross-functional teams involved in special projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have knowledge of local government exposures; risk management principals; rate-setting for all lines of coverage; risk financing; reinsurance; accounting and finance; workers’ compensation, liability and property coverages; and claims handling. Must have strong analytical and organizational skills, excellent writing skills, a strong customer service orientation, excellent communication skills and be able to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner to varying audiences.
Required Experience and Training:
A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance or closely related field and ten years of experience with an intergovernmental risk pool, local government or insurance company; at least three of which included leadership, managerial and supervisory responsibilities; or
A master’s degree in business, finance, insurance or closely related field and six years of experience in a senior leadership position with a intergovernmental risk pool, local government or insurance company.
Advanced degree preferred.

Seeking a detailed-oriented individual with a strong underwriting background as a Multi-Line Underwriter including all lines-- workers’ compensation, property, liability and auto.
Responsibilities include: analyzing risks by evaluating data, making decisions regarding acceptability, pricing, responding to bid specifications in writing, and the ability to work independently.
Bachelors’ degree and/or a minimum of five years experience desired. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills. Experience working with public entities or insurance industry operations desired.
