When Congress passed the short-term funding bill Dec. 7, lawmakers temporarily extended the life of the National Flood Insurance Plan (NFIP) through Dec. 22, by rolling it into the Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2018 (H.J. 123).
Up for reauthorization back in September, the NFIP received its first extension during this fall's hurricane season, with a resolution deadline of Dec. 8. Although a five-year extension passed in the House, lawmakers in the Senate had not reached agreement by the Dec. 8 deadline.
AGRiP will continue to monitor the NFIP's status.
