New information on trends, strategic foresight

Looking into the future doesn’t have to involve a crystal ball. Two new resources are available to help pools see what influences might have significant impact in the years ahead.

Framing the Future: A Guide to Strategic Foresight is designed to get pools thinking beyond “strategic planning,” and to engage in more “strategic foresight.” It provides tips to identify and assess future issues, while also giving pools measures to analyze success and make adjustments in years to come.

A set of Trend Cards was developed to help pools recognize some of the more immediate trends in areas including demographics, technology, economics, society, and the environment.

The resources were developed in concert with AGRiP’s resident futurist, Rebecca Ryan, following work with AGRiP SuperForecasters and a number of member pools engaged in strategic foresight initiatives.  And, for more ideas about how to implement strategic foresight exercises, check out the exercises at the end of AGRiP’s initial futuring publication, Thriving in Uncertainty.
